Installation Grainstick at Cité des Sciences, Paris

Production version of the Collaborative sound installation Grainstick, originally developed by the IMTR and room acoustics team at Ircam, and the composer Pierre Jodlowski, for the EU project SAME, using the “Rainstick” instrument gestural control metaphor.
Applied technologies: WFS spatialisation, motion tracking, gesture analysis, corpus-based synthesis.

First prototype presented at the Agora Festival 2009.

Hertzquelle (50Hz source)

The piece Hertzquelle (50Hz source) reveals the very source of the ubiquitous hum of 50Hz that surrounds everyone of us, everywhere, everytime.  It can be heard from alarm clocks perturbing the nightly silence, from power adapters that are never switched off, when you touch a blank audio cable, or from badly ground-lifted amplifiers.

Xe-Rocks Installation for Photocopiers and Sound System

P1000327_800Xerocks is an installation by video and sound artist Cécile Babiole designed to turn two copying machines into musical instruments.

Development and adaptation of the real-time sound synthesis system CataRT by Diemo Schwarz for audio analysis and granular (re)composition of the 4 audio channels from the photocopiers by navigation through descriptor space.

On Show : 27 June 2009 at Espace culture et multimédia Gantner (CG90) in Bourogne. Exhibition until 12 September 2009.

Exciting sound art festival, Montreuil

The first deambulatory sound art event “FESTIVAL D’EXPÉRIMENTATIONS SONORES” takes place in Montreuil, France, with performances in unusual places such as a whig workshop, a van, a hairdresser’s saloon, an elevator. MTBF will team up with guitar magician Cyril Touzé for a musical exploration of the earth’s stratigraphy.

Silver Sounds Exhibition with MTBF soundscape wins award

The Silver Sounds exhibition has won the Times Higher Education Award for Excellence and Innovation in the Arts. At a ceremony in London last night the University’s Naughton Gallery’s Silver Sounds Exhibition took the top award in the category, beating off competition from universities all over the UK.

The exhibition is unique because visitors can ‘hear’ as well as see the University’s silver collection, through using handheld computers to highlight objects and listen to the artists’ interpretations.
